Europe
We will be learning about Europe for the next several weeks. Based on what you already know about that continent, what country, cities, and places sound exciting to you? In other words, if you could go and spend some time there, what would interest you and why do you feel that way?
On a personal note, my wife and I went to Iceland a few years ago and found that to be a most extraordinary place. The culture and topography alone made it a once in a lifetime experience. We would certainly love to go back, however, there are so many exciting places in Europe we would still want to see.

Although I would like to visit just about every major city or town in Europe, I've come up the two I would like to visit most, Zürich, Switzerland and Mykonos, a Greek Isle. Zurich appealed to me within the last few years after reading about it in a travel magazine. The article stated that it had the highest quality of living standard in the world. I would love to learn exactly why that is and perhaps live as the Swiss do while in their country. Zurich has a great balance of medieval and contemporary architecture. If I were to travel there, I would definitely get the ‘Zurich Card,’ which allows unlimited travel on public trains, buses, trams, and boats, plus free entry to more than 40 museums, plus several further perks. Its about 10 Euro for 24 hours. I would love to go here mainly for the contemporary lifestyle and central access to other European destinations as well as the beautiful countryside of Switzerland itself.
I also chose Mykonos because it is an all-in-one place. If I were to go there, I could bathe on the beautiful beaches, windsurf, go to clubs, visit galleries and museums, and see the windmills. I would mainly come here for the party atmosphere. It seems like a fun, sexy and jet-set place. The great thing about going here is that before or after nights of partying, you could still get the quaint essential Greek experience here with the blue domed churches and breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea. Although Zurich and Mykonos are very different places, they both appeal to me greatly and I hope to one day see them both.

It has always been a dream of mine to visit Scotland. I did a research paper once on the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and ever since I have been very interested in visiting the country. The Tattoo takes place every August, so therefore that would be the time of year I'd be interested in visiting. I love the Scottish accent, so that makes me want to visit even more. I also am very interested in the Scottish culture and traditions... bagpipes, kilts, etc.
Italy is another country in Europe I'd like to see... although I would most certainly have a problem with the language. Since I've moved to Miami, I have found that Italian people are extremely nice. That's even more of a reason to want to go. One site I would love to see in Italy is the White Marble Quary in Umbria. This is where Leonardo DaVinci would go pick out the marble to make his masterpieces.
Lastly, I would be interested in visiting the Czech Republic. My great-grandmother came to America when she was 7 years old from the Czech Republic. Since my family heritage is there, I would be interested in seeing the country. I've also heard that the Czech Republic has amazing churches with exquisite architecture. Not to mention, I love kolaches.
Europe is a very fascinating country. If it were up to me, I would take a cruise in the Meditteranean to be able to see more places in Europe without actually having to pack and unpack.
